I’ve been dipping my toe into poetry recently, encouraged by my friend Ant’s series on ‘life changing poems’. If you know me you’ll realise this is a big thing for me, having all but written off poetry after bad experiences during my own schooling (a lesson to all teachers there).
A highlight of the Greenbelt festival was hearing the Irish poet Padraig Ó Tuama reading from his first collection ‘readings from the book of exile’. His poems are raw and beautiful, simple and yet profound. I read this a few nights ago and thought it might be an interesting one to share.
