day 222…

We visited the fantastic Royal Albert Memorial Museum here in Exeter today.  Don’t just take my word for it…they won a major award this year after a huge refurbishment project.

I can’t tell you how great this place is.  If you’re ever in Exeter it’s worth a visit…seriously.  Packed full of historical and natural world exhibits, well thought through and perfect for children…

One reason – the museum provides children with this great little ‘Bee’ suitcase stuffed full of tools for exploring the museum – including a little bee outfit (although little miss slightly stroppy didn’t want to wear it!).  Sephi happily towed it around with her throughout the museum.  Here we have her exploring an abstract piece of art by Volkhardt Muller

If you haven’t picked up previously, I’m a bit of a history geek so I was totally in paradise poking around the various exhibits.  I love the fact that we can literally touch the past.  We are who we are because of who we once were.  We must never forget that.  Maybe something of my passion for this will rub off on my little explorer!

Exeter is a brilliant place to live.  We’re seeing a real investment in our city, something which is moving it forward to become a cosmopolitan hub for our part of the world.
